Overview
St. George Church in Taybeh is one of the most important Christian landmarks in Palestine. Originally founded during the Byzantine period, the church was rebuilt by the Crusaders in the 12th century and has remained a center of worship for Taybeh’s Christian community ever since. Its simple stone architecture, vaulted interiors, and serene setting reflect centuries of devotion in a village that has preserved its faith against the tides of history.
The church is central to Taybeh’s identity as Palestine’s only entirely Christian village. It continues to host liturgies, weddings, and annual celebrations that draw parishioners from across the West Bank. For visitors, it offers a quiet place of reflection, as well as a glimpse into the continuity of Christian presence in Palestine.
