Overview
Nestled on a hilltop northeast of Ramallah, Taybeh is one of Palestine’s most remarkable villages, celebrated for its Christian heritage and living traditions. Its name, meaning “The Goodly,” was given by Saladin in the 12th century, reflecting the village’s enduring spirit. Taybeh is renowned as the only entirely Christian village in Palestine, home to a warm and hospitable community that has preserved its identity through centuries of change.
The village is best known for the Church of St. George, a Byzantine-era church rebuilt by the Crusaders that still serves the local community. Taybeh also offers visitors a taste of modern Palestinian entrepreneurship through the Taybeh Brewery, the first microbrewery in the Middle East, and its lively Oktoberfest celebration. Walking through its narrow streets, travelers encounter stone houses, olive groves, and panoramic views across the Jordan Valley — all part of Taybeh’s unique charm.
