The municipality of Qalqilia manages and supervises the only zoo in Palestine. The Qalqilia Zoo was established in 1986, near the northern entrance of the city. The garden area of the zoo spans 35 acres. The complex includes many facilities such as a swimming pool, children’s games, cafeteria, Natural History Museum, restaurants, and the Palestinian Medical Center for Wildlife, which is the only center of its kind in Palestine. The Zoo consists of a Wildlife Department, Predators Department, and Department of Marine Animals. The site is very popular among local visitors, especially for school trips and family excursions.
