According to archaeological evidence and ancient records, Tel Ta’anek, strategically located along the ancient trade route of Via Maris (“Way of the Sea”), was a significant spot in the area during many historical eras. Nowadays, what was once a great city, is now a quiet, peaceful, grassy archaeological site. Foundations of old buildings, stone courtyards, water cisterns and burial caves can be seen among the ancient ruins.
