The Bethlehem Icon School seeks to restore this ancient element of the Holy land’s Christian heritage to its former glory primarily through its Icon School and its workshops. The school is determined to establish Christians of the Holy land among the most eminent of contemporary iconographers. It also seeks, through lectures and courses, to promote a wider understanding of this vital aspect of Palestinian Christian culture.

As an atelier, the Icon Centre is a place where icons are custom made to the highest standards and visitors are given an insight into the world of iconography as living art of the Palestinian Christian community. The Centre, inspired by the model of the Apostolic Church, encourages its students and artists to build a sense of common spiritual purpose and collaborative working.

The Center also runs week long courses in iconography for international visitors, in collaboration with the Emmanuel Monastery - Bethlehem.
