Where to go Guide
The George Habash Square is located in the Al Tireh area of Ramallah, and represents the journey of freedom fighter George Habash and his patriotic and humanist purity. This is the reason why water was used in the design of the square, in addition to the winding stone and cactus plants, representing the journey of the freedom fighter.
George Habash (August 1926 - January 2008) was a Palestinian freedom fighter who was born in the city of Lod. He is considered the founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and was one of the most prominent Palestinian patriotic figures. His supporters called him Al-Hakim (the sagacious/the doctor); “Each revolution has a sage and our Palestinian revolution has but one sage –George Habash”. He served as Secretary-General of the Popular Front until 2000, and was the founder of the Pan-Arabists Movement.
