Community Action Center
The Community Action Center (CAC) is a non-profit, community rights based center that was established in Jerusalem in 1999. It was created by Al-Quds University to empower the Palestinian Community in East Jerusalem by using Rights Based Practice Approach in conjunction with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The center hopes to empower the Palestinian Community by providing Palestinians with the necessary knowledge and information concerning their rights and civil liberties, that they may not otherwise have access to. This community rights center hopes to promote and develop a civil society in the region, where Palestinians should be given the same rights and liberties as others.
The CAC’s goal with this knowledge and awareness is to encourage Palestinians to solve these collective problems, with particular attention to social and economic inequality, through legal and non-violent manners.
This Center was established because of the rise in social, economic and political problems, as well as the continuing occupation, which has further trampled on Palestinian rights. Since the establishment of the Center more than 140,000 services have been presented to the Jerusalemites in East Jerusalem.
