The Church of the Pater Noster is another church located on the Mount of Olives marking the scenes from the Ministry of Jesus. In the Grotto of the Teaching, Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer or Pater Noster. Over the centuries, several Churches were built on the site. The first of which was erected during the 4th century AD by the Emperor Constantine and his mother, Helena.
The modern Church is run by the Carmelite nuns and is perhaps most famous for the more than 140 renditions of the Lord’s Prayer inscribed onto ceramic tiles adorning the Church, each in different languages and dialects.
