Where to go Guide
One of three ancient synagogues in Jericho is Shahwan’s Synagogue, originally named Shalom Al Yisrael (Peace be upon Israel). It was discovered in 1936 by a British family who was digging foundations for a new home. Now it is located within the property of the Shahwan family. The synagogue dates back to the 6th century and contains an amazing mosaic floor with an inscription.
