Al Arroub Refugee Camp was established in 1949, 15km south of Bethlehem, on the main road to Hebron (Road No. 60).The original inhabitants came from 33 villages in Ramle, Hebron, and Gaza. Over 10,400 refugees are registered as living in the Camp. All shelters are connected to the public water and electricity infrastructures. The inhabitants of the Camp suffer from an unemployment rate of 30 percent, and are heavily affected by the increased inaccessibility of the Israeli labor market.
