Where to go Guide
Established in 1952, the YMCA Gaza operates from a large complex in Gaza City. It began by offering sports and social activities but later developed a number of cultural projects. The most active and successful of these is its Art Department which offers young people courses in visual arts, including oil painting, charcoal, graphics and illustration, and silk screening. The YMCA incorporates a gallery space which accommodates changing art exhibitions. The YMCA also hosts regular summer camp activities and in 1993 held two cultural festivals featuring theater activities, dabke, a book fair, and art workshops.
