The Grand Mosque ( Fatima Khatoun): is named after the wife of Mohammad Baik, Bosnian governor of Damascus under the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Fatima Khatoun is said to have taken a liking to Jenin when she passed through on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1566, and later established, or more probably renovated, this Mosque on the site of an earlier one dating back to the 7th century.

Al Saray “ Fatima Khatun School”: This building was used as an administrative center during the Ottoman period and British Mandate.

The Vegetable Market “ Al-Hesba”: Experience Jenin’s vibrant city center as you wonder through its lively vegetable market. .

Bal’ama Tunnel: . Located at the northern entrance to Jenin, the famous Balameh tunnel dates back to the Bronze Age. The tunnel was originally cut during the Late Bronze – Early Iron Ages and used by city residents as a safe passage to access their water source.

Burqin Church: The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George: is one of the oldest churches in the Holy Land. Located on the site where according to Christian tradition, Jesus cleansed the ten lepers.

Arabba “ Abed Al Hadi Palaces”: Arraba, located 13 kilometers southwest of Jenin, was one of the throne villages and a strategically important place that served as the headquarters of the Abdel Hadi family.

Getting to Jenin

Jerusalem to Jenin:

Option 1 – Public transportation via Ramallah: Take bus # 218 from the East Jerusalem Central Bus Station located near Damascus Gate, to Ramallah. The bus will drop you off at Al-Nahda Street next to the main bus station. The cost for the ticket is 8 ILS. From the Ramallah central station, take a shared taxi (servees) to the Jenin Central Station (located on Jama’a Street of Cinema street) . Ticket cost around 35 ILS. Duration: 90 minutes to Jenin.

Option 2 – Private Taxi from Jerusalem to Jenin: A private taxi from Jerusalem to Jenin will cost around 900 ILS ($245).

Ramallah to Jenin:
